Hi am going to Isle Of Wight next week for a week and want to take my laptop with me it has wifi built in but would like to know what the best option is for a Dongle as will need to buy one before I go. Well 2 actualy as huby wants one too for his laptop. He is working at a festival over there and we are staying in our caravan on a hill in the middle of knowhere so I need some kind of 'entertainment' as I dont have a ticket for festival.
Someone I know also suggested something called MY fi which works with a sim card but I havent ever heared of this but apparantly up to 3 devices can connect through it ?
Can anyone suggest the best most reliable way / dongle please ?
Thanks.

what mobile phone network / handset do you have? Apple and Android phones can be configured to work as a access point (much like the mifi) - although would need to check the data package & you have its going to have a lot of use (but then again what would cost be to buy a mifi device)..
3 & Vodafone show good reception for IOW..
Whereas o2 Coverage checker shows no signal in IOW..
So do need to check that you wont be in a signal blindspot!!0 -
Thanks Stu, we both have Samsung handsets mine is the GT-S3850 and his is the slighlty earlier version of same model if that makes any difference and we are both with Tesco mobile monthly sims (no contracts) which I beleive is O2 ? !
The event is at Seaclose Park, Newport, IOW if thats of any use, how do I check out the signal / blackspot for that area ?
Thanks again.Failure is only someone elses judgement.

try www . o2 . co . uk/coveragechecker - can put in postcode to see what signal likely to be...
Has a map where can zoom in to see likely coverage..
Not too sure about that phone model - did a quick google and it might be a android phone -- on my htc phone I can slide down the notifications tab, select quick settings & enable wi-fi hotspot that turns the phone into wireless access point..
then it just becomes a matter of checking your tariff re data allowance and what they can offer for line -- That way you dont incur a large bill...0 -
but is very easy to use.
I've had dongles and MiFi devices and I like the MiFi much better.
If reception is patchy you can put the MiFi in the window and the local WiFi network is then available where you want it.0
