You trim them in Spring Lavertia.

You can get cutting easily from them even without rooting compound

They grown massive so watch out. My one last year was think you could put you hand around the stem at bottom that was first year too, it was quick woody. Took it out this year (March) to put a new fence and replanted cuttings in place in May but haven't grown as much as I thought maybe its because its been so wet
if i trim the lavateria now will it still flower? or am i too late?

The lavatera can be pruned now and it will still flower this year, the bees and butterflies adore that shrub, I have just planted a dwarf lavatera so hopefully I can keep that nice and neat...!!

Looking at the 2nd photo... the pink flower/purple leaves is Dahlia (Bishop of Llandaf?) the pink flower behind it is a Geranium Endressi, the red thing at the back is Monarda, the red and white thing on the right with the feathery leaves is a Cosmos (cosmea).

three plants at the back are achilleas and the one next to the black plant label is possibly a hebe but it's only a vague guess. the other posters answers are correct. not sure about yellow one and the pink one in the blog pic - maybe, bidens and aremeria?
