For any home improvement work to be carried out I always like to get 3 estimates and look at all 3 on a realistic basis.

For a run of 97m to supply and fit guttering at the estimate of £450-£500 I would say that you were getting a bargain at all costs.

Just looking at the work involved is quite something, removing and replacing numerous brackets, joints, runs, downpipis, clips, the list goes on. Then all the guttering has to be disposed of, think about whats involved other than replacing the guttering.

On the top of my head I would say 'Deal'

97M??? Just how big is your house?? When I replace some gutters in my house, it came in 4m and 2m lengths, so it was easy to work out how much gutter was needed.

97 metres is a massive amount of guttering......is this just for the house.....or are you replacing your cannabis growing hydroponic system as well ?

Interesting thread, as I have problems with the guttering at the front of the house - '39 semi.
No idea of the length, but one guy who had done others several houses down - offered to do it for £900 - 'it would be £1000 but with just had a cancellation'! That's all the guttering, fascias and down pipes.
Have someone else coming tomorrow to give a price, otherwise may settle for a repair.

Where have I heard that excuse before? Just had a cancellation. Similar to the cold sell of ''our company is working just around the corner and can give you a good deal on new windows and doors'' Maybe justified on the odd occasion.

My motto is always get 3 quotes for any household repairs then study them all carefully.

I am not sure of that figure, but am getting a quote from a different supplier. Its not a question of the work involved, its more a question of what would be a good replacement and what price should I expect to pay. By all accounts 1300 doesnt seem so bad with all the removing, replacing, staining etc.

OP - that figure of 97m just has to be wrong, unless you are living in mansion, but then the quoted cost of just £500 is absurdly cheap. Are these figures from a written quote??

Not sure where you are Frankie but I am in Yorkshire and have just been quoted £500 - £550 to replace 25m of old cast iron guttering. This included removal and disposal of old guttering, new plastic squareline guttering and down pipes and all fitting. Thats a 3 bed larger than average semi but was part of a larger job to do other work on the property.

I costed the actual material costs at various places and got prices ranging from £125 to £150 from the online guttering suppliers (just google, all suppliers within first two pages) and approx £200 from B&Q and Wickes.

have a walk round and count the gutter brackets and things like running outlets or joins. the last two still act as brackets and will be spaced approx 1mt apart.
