first Direct £100 Offer

The offer states if you pay £1500 or more via salary/income a month you get the £100 bonus.

Does it have to be a wage payment or can it be any £1500 pay-in?

Yes I did - did a search for First Direct and looked at the forum title and also looked at the last few page of Banking but couldn't see anything.
  • in a word, yes, it can be any 1500 pay in.

have you opened the account already

    Yes I have
  • Does anyone know if there is an official length of time after closing an FD account when you can be classified as a new customer again? I closed mine in disgust many years ago, because they started to charge fees, but I'm tempted to come back for the new customer offer and the regular saver.

  • Yes I have

there's often several different incentives running at the same time. Call first direct and check with them, take the staff members name and note the time of the call etc incase you have any problems receiving your incentive further down the line.

    how long ago?

it is very unlikely you will be considered for the joining incentive.
And you can still get charged fees so not sure how that will sit with you.....

Rather than closing mine in disgust, I queried the fees on the phone to them, they said if I had an additional product with them that the fees wouldn't apply. So I applied for another free product and have never been charged fees for normal banking.

According to there reps, if you have ever been a member with them before, you'll be disqualified for all new member incentives. I know someone who pushed for a date as to how long 'ever' is and they were told 'If you have previously applied for a current account on or after 1 October 1989, then you do not qualify'.
  • Thanks Gromitt. I'll have to consider whether the regular saver account is worth the hassle of opening a new bank account without extra incentives.

If I remember correctly that was when First Direct opened. :D
