Apologies, because I'm sure there is already a plethora of unlock horror stories with regards to Orange but couldn't find a definitive answer either way on the forums.
Does the £20 admin charge still apply to unlock the phone, even when you've finished your contact and paid you're last bill?
I was under the impression that at that point they couldn't then ask for an admin fee but their website seems to suggest otherwise?
Any one have any experience of asking for the code once the contract is finished and paid up?
Thanks.

There's always a fee, doesn't matter if you're in or out of contact.0

It is a fee to cover the cost of the unlock admin. Back in the day this was provided at no cost once contract minimum term period were reached, but like with most things (CC fees, invoice fees etc) it's another fee to add to the list.
Since nobody else can unlock, you're stuck with it - any more than £20 and you might be able to rgue to OFCOM that the charge was/is unreasonable, but as it isn't - it isn't!0 -
Cheers; much appreciated!0

You can of course jailbreak and unlock and I also believe that someone on here has recommended an e bay site that does Orange and T Mobile unlocks???
The problem with that is it could be re-locked later.
Apple contol the locks via Itunes, to unlock a phone the network requests Apple to change the flag in the database, and on next sync it unlock.
Without that flag change the next time the phone is synced or upgraded there is a chance the locks will be re-instated.
Of course if you never want to use Itunes again or take any upgrades thats a possibility but many people will .0 -
I used these instead of going though Orange a bit more money but was done in 2-3 days Factory Unlocked so you can use any network
and all works though iTunes
Have a look at there feedback before you decide.

However, as they charge more than Orange, it's hardly money-saving solution!0
