Time to get motivated!

Where to start?! We have loads of debts that need to be paid off so I need to make and stick to a plan! All of our debt is very old and interest free but want to get it all gone and start saving to eventually move house! Am finding it really difficult to fill out a statement of affairs as each month seems so different and as we cook dinner for up to 12 every evening so grocery cost is extremely variable! Spend so long thinking about where to start that I never seem to get anywhere! Same goes for the organization and tidiness of our home I seem to spend hours cleaning and never quite getting the whole house finished! Any suggestions of how to get started gratefully received!

  • Bit more info :-). Married to a wonderful hubbie and we have two gorgeous children, been paying debts off at a snails pace for over 7 years! We have reduced the original debt by half through payments and we also received settlement offers on two debts. We only started making larger payments this year. I have been on the snowball calculator and if we continue to pay the amount that we are currently paying it will take 41 months to clear!!

I am very aware that we are awful at budgeting and being organized and am confident that if I can get on track and make a realistic plan there is potential to shave some time off the prediction!

After lurking on this site for a while I have decided to start this diary to keep me on track and hopefully share the wisdom of all of you that have been or are on the journey to being debt free! xxx

Good luck with your diary and debt busting!

I think being organised is a massive start - I too can be disorganised but find when I regularly post on my diary it keeps me motivated and on track.

  • Good start to the day we have made fathers day cards with the little ones I look after and used loads of bits from the crafty box I would have usually gone and spent money getting bits and bobs specifically for a more led craft so I recon if I do the same with the others later that will have saved me £10!

  • Plan for the rest of today is to

make dinner from chicken breasts that are already cooked with some gravy and new potatoes and rustle up some sort of pudding without venturing to the shop!

Our vehicle is booked in for an MOT later so will find out what needs doing :-s

Glad the car passed the mot :)

As for presents keep an eye out over on the Grabbit board I've got quite a few bits in the past for the present box :)
  • Thank you will have a search for that board I haven't seen it yet! Managed to get a few bits in elc that were reduced that will cover two parties but the invites keep flooding in they have a much better social life than we do!
Spent quite a bit today as car needed filling up and went grocery shopping. Desperately need to get the weekly spends down all monthly bills are pretty covered but I find it impossible to predict/ set a budget for spending on fuel, groceries and extras as each week is so different!

Have half blitzed the kitchen but need to finish it and do a tonne of washing out for fathers say tomorrow so need to get on with it!
