This looks like a bargain to me.............

If I were after a laptop, would be seriuosly tempted but of course if there are any adverse comments please add them.

Great price, with a reesonable spec, although it has an older dual core processor. Dabs is a well known online retailer, but have had probs with them a couple of times with returns/problems. My main beef will be that the cheaper Acer's are pretty ropey, at this price if it last more that a couple of years you will be quids in......
Would I buy it? Well no, as naturally I am pretty risk adverse.0 -
I wouldn't buy it either, for that speck you can get one cheaper, alternatively for that price you can get a better speck laptop.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I've got an old Acer Aspire 1640 - I think I have had it about 6+ years from new. I also have 2 Dell 1545 laptops. all were cheap to buy, although not quite as cheap as this offering.
Not had any problems with the acer apart from when I clumsily knocked it off a table and broke the power jack. Motherboard packed up on my first Dell after three years of constant use. Bought spares machine off ebay and repaired, selling left over bits to actually make a profit. Obviously had to completely strip the laptop to fit the motherboard which was fun first time round.
Do people actually find their laptops failing within a couple of years with normal use - I sincerely hope not?0 -

6 years ago you probably spent maybe 3 times as much on yr laptop, since then with inflation etc etc, you're now paying a fraction of the cost - consequently quality has gone down, latest Acers at the "economy" end are quite flimsy. I bought an Acer Travelmate 13 years ago and it was well made, now Acers are no way near the same quality-wise.
Unfortunately in our experience "economy" laptops don't appear to last as long on average - we can all quote exceptions etc etc - a good case at the moment is with Dell M5030's where a significant number are failing in the 6-24 month cycle (see Dell forums)
Hence my earlier comment about "risk"; you could buy one and be lucky, conversely...........0 -

Laptops have been cheap for quite a while now - I paid about £320 for the acer back in 2006, so in absolute terms not much different.
When have you had a laptop break on you in less than 2 year and what went wrong?0
