Anyone understand Spanish addresses?

Hi all,

I have an address to go to with the layout 'Calle San Domingo N°4-6,1°A; 37167 Salamanca'. It's a private address. Does this mean that it is flat A on the first floor of building number 4-6 on San Domingo road? It looks different to the addresses we learnt in school.

Thanks :)

I understand it the same as you. Not sure if it's correct though as its a long time sice I learnt Spanish addresses too. If its not correct I don't know what it could be though.

I would say that you're right. I looked in my Rough Guide which has a section on addresses, but it only refers to left, right and centre apartments/offices rather than what may be the case here of more doors on that level. But I can't really see any other alternative to your interpretation, unless the A stands for something other than 'flat A'.

I'm pretty sure the little round thing after a number means floor.

The "little round thing" is just the Spanish equivalent of st/nd/rd/th (as in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th). More generally, it's an abbreviation for a word ending in the letter "o" (e.g. N° for numero).

I think the OP's interpretation of the address is correct.
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning
