Natwest Switching Service

Anyone used Natwest Switching Service?
I'm looking for them to switch my Barclays 'Current Account Plus' back to my active Natwest 'Current Plus' then upgrade it to a 'Select Silver' account.
They say this will take 7-10 days - are they playing it safe or is this genuinely the time frame?
They also say, if I get accepted for one of their own credit cards - they can transfer my balance and close my Barclaycard? Is this true? I imagined I would have to action that whole process rather than them do it all for me!
Has anybody done this with them before?!

7-10 would be indicative if everything goes to plan. Natwest need to send a letter to Barclays asking for the old account to be closed, the regular payments details sent (i.e. Direct Debit and Standing Orders) and the details to transfer any remaining funds to.
Once Barclays have responded NatWest set up the standing orders and send advices to all the direct debit companies telling them that they need to take their payments from your new account details.
Occasionally direct debit companies are bad at responding to these advices so make sure you check.0 -
In my experience, transactions with Natwest invariably take longer than they say they will.
You'll need patience if you're transferring to Natwest.0 -
I've switched banks twice in the last year or so. Both times took about 2 weeks for all direct debits to go over with a couple of direct debits requiring manual intervention to bring them over. None have been to natwest though (although the first switch was from natwest) so I don't have much experience of their switching service0
