Setting up website/s to use in Uk & China

Options
Hi

Easrly stages of setting up a small part-time business, trying to tap into the vast chinese market. My partner is from Taiwan and we have been exploring an opportunity which we have trialled and has worked well but most has been through friends/family spreading the word in those China/Taiwan.

We now want to have a website in China/Taiwan promoting this business so we can build a client base and attract new business.

Where do I start, we do not yet have a website, I would like one in english over here with an option on the page to switch to chinese. And a website in china than can be switched to English.

Is it feasible to have one website that covers all countries mentioned, or do we have to do seperately.

I am no techie so any help would be very much appreciated. We are in the South east near Brighton if anyone out there can recommend.

Also how much would this possibly cost if we were to get someone to do for us?
I am only trying to help

A web design colleague of mine has worked with a Japanese website that I think had the ability to be translated to a few languages. It is certainly doable.

All you need is one site with 2 language options, presumably a .com address.

If you are interested let me know and I'll PM you his details even only for a quote to give you an idea.

It is feasible to have one website that covers multiple languages automatically.

When your web browser requests the webpage from the server, it doesn't just send the web address (URL) wanted, it also sends HTTP Header information. One of these includes the language(s) the user wants. In effect you are saying eg please send me https://www.moneysavingexpert.com and I read Danish Hungarian or Tagalog.

Then the website will send back what its programmers have decided to offer, eg here is the page you wanted, we don't have it in Danish but here it is in English
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

That would be good thanks. I have received a private e-mail about a dual language website but not sure if related to your colleague.

I fancy it may be better grabbing the stick by the other end. A native speaking chinese speaker/designer would give better perspective and the Chinese market dwarfs the english market. See it through your customers' eyes..

Sorry for the delay, I dont check this forum regularly. No it wont have been a message from him as I never mentioned it to him (I wouldnt just say go ahead and get in touch with someone unless they were expecting a message!)

Please pm me the job spec and what you would like it to do etc. then he can have a look. He's the design side, I'm digital marketing so he will have a better idea.
