Hi all i hope some one can help
We are in the process of getting quotes for conservatories and previously i had only heard of FENSA who back guarentees but now i have come across
The consumer protection agency and certass
Having looked at both websites they seem genuine enough, i.e in protecting deposits and 10 year guarentees.
can anyone just reassure me that they are both legit
With so many cowboys about i dont want to take a chance with 8k +
Thanks

From the Fensa and Certass websitesPorches and Conservatories do not generally come under the FENSA registration scheme.
Does the Certass scheme cover new build properties or porches and conservatories?
No, these are outside of the Certass remit.
Most conservatory installers will offer an insurance backed warranty with companies they use such as the Plastics Window Federation.0 -
We spent £13k with a local firm that had been in existence some years and had been recommended and they tailored it to our wishes.
It came with a guarantee that we really took as nice to have but really would be unlikely to come up trumps issued via QANW.
One exclusion states "sealed units and items of door furniture, tracks, runners, mountings, mechanisms and trims where the fault arises after the expiry date of the manufacturers guarantee" so at best it covers the basic construction but little that is actually likely to fail. through use.
Another one "fair wear and tear, sunlight, storm or deterioration due to negligent maintenance"
I really think your only recourse, should it be necessary, is against the original installer IMO
The only problems that we have had in 8 years were the hinges dropping slightly early on. The installers came back and adjusted them without issue."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
