Hi!
Friends 16 yearold daughters Compaq laptop, 8months old has gone white - with feint blue horizontal lines accross display. Nothing works on it.
Assume, although she denies, it's been dropped, so any ideas of cost of fixing, or is it possible to be a fault, appreciated, please.
Thanks
VB

Even if it works with an external monitor - my best guess would be a bad connection, worst case a faulty screen - it would be a warranty issue.
If it doesn't work with an external monitor, then a again contact the vendor regarding warranty.0 -
Take the hard drive out, put it in a caddy and copy across any info you want then take it back to where you bought it. It is still under warranty so not worth faultfinding.0

Strictly speaking, if it has been dropped it won't be covered under warranty. How do I add a signature?0 -
Had a friend with a Netbook that had this issue in secondary school. I thought try hitting it to see if it fixes it sorts the screen issue. Suprisingly, it did. It seemed that if we flicked the screen in certain places it actually fixed / caused the whitescreen issue. I'd be careful before you start smashing the laptop to pieces though
