Hi everyone,
We are looking to visit Bruges in the summer holidays with our 2 children - both over 18 for 2 or 3 nights. We would welcome any ideas on cheapest way to do this.
We are flexible. Are some days cheaper to travel than others? Does anyone know of any offers or discount codes. We are not looking to take the car and happy to book hotels separately.
Thanks so much for any advice

Would be helpful if you let us know how long your trip will be , you are looking at 4 x adult fares whichever way you go via Hull !
You could save by booking a "Family " cabin , either for 4 or 5 persons , then you have to factor in the perking charges at Hull terminal for your car , £6 per night , and the Bus transfer to Bruge from Zeebrugge , around €13 per person , per out/in from terminal , as you can see it soon adds up !
You could do a " Mini Cruise " at around £75 per person , this includes the bus transfers in belguim , stay over a night for £10 extra ( find your own hotel )
When you factor all the extra cost`s you may find it easier , and cheaper to use a Coach tour company or even Superbreaks !
We reccomend the Ibis Hotel in Bruge , basic , cheerful and excellent for access to Bruge station and town !
Could we reccomend you visit Trip Advisor and put Bruge in the search box and have a read of the wealth of info about Bruge available to you !
Any questions please ask .

Bruges is only an hours drive from Dunkirk, another option as you might get a cheaper return ticket.0

I agree with boatman, Dunkirk is only about an hour from Bruges, and they have some very good prices on the Dover-Dunkirk route: We went to Bruges for a few days a couple of weeks ago and only paid £40 return (4 adults plus car)

But they don't want to take a car0

Brugges is incredibly expensive as is eating on the ferry. Take a travel kettle with you with an adapter. Tea/coffee is nearly £3 a cup.
Have a meal before you go and take a picnic for tea.
We went to Brugges a few years ago, sat outside a pub, ordered 2 glasses of fresh orange, I nearly fell off me chair when we got a bill for 12 euros.
Have a look at National Holidays, they do some holidays to Amsterdam/Brugges and the prices are pretty good, often with meals on the ferry included.
Got to say that Brugges is absolutely beautifulmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Thank you so much for your replies.
We live in Durham but prepared to travel to hull. Hadn't thought of Dunkirk but will google it. Ferry meals are horrendously expensive so may take a picnic.
We are now thinking of taking the car as there is an offer on with p&o at the moment.
Struggling to bring it in under£1000 for the four of us for 3 nights in Bruges and2 on the ferry.

Had a look at P&O from Hull using August dates ( school Hols ? ) Lowest ferry price is £376 for a 4 Bunk inside cabin , going up to £386 for a 4 berth Premier inside and the highest was a Club 5 berth , going out , with a 4 berth Premier inside coming back !
Ibis Hotel in Bruges has 2 rooms x 2 persons at £169 3 day stay so £338 for your stay in total !
So you could do it for £714 ish !
Parking right next to the hotel is about €8 per 24 hours .
Hope this helps ?
PS: Would forget about Dover/Dunkirk from Durham !!
Long Drag and any savings would go in Fuel !A Bast**d I May Be ! I Was Born One !
