building and contents insurance

It's that time of year again!
My policy is up for renewal and I am unsure how to get a figure for how much to insure the house for. I know the market value, so is that the price I give?
Also, I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations
My quote with my existing company is £365 with £50 excess. That's for £30000 contents, accidental, new for old
Does this sound competitive for a 3 bed semi (1930's build)?
TIA

There are too many factors to consider to say if a quote is reasonable or not.
Buildings insurance should be enough to level your property, take it all away and build a new house on the plot. This is normally significantly below the market value.
When you first took a policy out you generally will have given the value put on the survey for rebuild and this will have been adjusted annually based on the relevant indexes of inflation.... therefore ask your insurers. All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

Use martins insurance thread on left hand side to compare different companies. The link below will help you work out your rebuilding costs.

Don't forget Quidco. You might get a good deal and cash back using them.0
