How long untill I hear anything ???

Hi
We accepted a offer a week ago Wednesday. We informed our EA which solicitor to use the Friday after. We still haven't heard anything from either our solicitor or the buyers surveyor.
Our EA has said that the buyers solicitor had called the start of this week to say the buyers sale is as far as it can go and to start the process of out sale.
Question is how long do you think I should give it untill I chase about thier surveyor and our solicitor.

On a plus I managed another car boot from my declittering and made £140 today 😄

Not quite with you, have you actually told your solicitor about the propsed sale?

They would have recieved a sales letter from the agent involved to introduce all parties, price agreed etc but you should definately call the solicitor.

Your soliitor will want you to complete paperwork, a questionaire about the house -what you are leaving/taking with etc and will need a copy of passport and utility bill.

They may also request a few hundred pounds on account for when they have to pay for searches. Some Sols ask for this up front and dont fortget they will need your mortgage account number - if you have a mortgage.

If he/she hasn't asked for any of this yet, I'd certainly be picking up the phone to politely give them a kick up the you know where.

With regards to your buyers survey, ask your agent if the buyer has their mortgage offer in place. If they have, it usually takes 3-4 days from acceptance for the lender to get the survey organised.

Though your agent should be chasing all of this up, I wouldn't rely on them. A lot of agents think their work is done once a sale is agreed and its time to sit back and relax.

Chase it up and keep us informed.

Hope this helps and good luck.

As IHS mentions, solicitor should send you all required forms to fill out regarding sale, plus cheque or card payment for initial amount for them to start the process. Once documents etc are returned to solicitor, including necessary ID, he can begin to get on with the work proper. At least you have the comfort of knowing that buyer has already instructed their solicitor.

I'm surprised you haven't heard regarding buyers surveyor. My buyers surveyor was in touch within just 2 days to make appointment. Although it took nearly 2 weeks more for her written mortgage offer to come through because of the Jubilee weekend holiday.

Oh and what great news to net another £140 from a car boot. :T You are doing well! Wish a car boot was possible for me, but as a non driver, I'm going to have to rely on Ebay to get rid of the items I won't need or have room for now I'm downsizing.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

    Thanks for the replies.
We used the solicitor recommended by the EA large local frim, I told the EA to inform them on Friday last week, but we still haven't had anything from them.
I was a little concerned about the surveyor as I thought I would have had a call by now.
I think I might call the EA tomorrow to see how far along the buyers are and when I should recieve anything from our solicitor.
We arnt buying anything so the legal work will only be for the sale.
The bootsales are going really well and I am planning another on Sunday, I've made £340 so far and my solicitors fees are £440 so hopefully by Monday I might have made enought to cover it 😉

Well done on another carboot success!

I would have thought you should have made contact with your solicitor yourselves, rather than relying on the EA to do it. As others have posted, the solicitor will need ID and a deposit from you and will start sending out the forms that requiring completing straight away. I would definitely be getting in touch with them myself asap!

Regarding your buyer's survey, it does seem to vary quite a bit - our DS was buying his first flat last year and his survey was arranged within a day or two of his offer being accepted - although he wasn't reliant upon a mortgage so maybe that was why.....

However, our buyers last year were getting a mortgage and it was almost a month from us accepting their offer to the surveyor coming to do their Homebuyer's Report........

Have you actually instructed them? Not sure they can do anything until you do, and I don't think the EA can instruct them on your behalf.

    Thanks
I thought the EA did the instructing but I think I will just call the solicitors myself, the EA said that we should get a pack through the post , but we haven't had anything yet.
I think I will also call the EA about the buyers position, theyll be sick of me untill the house sale.
