Train to London
During July and August I will be travelling from the North West to London every Monday for 8 weeks to a meeting that will start at 5pm and finish at 7pm. I will be taking an afternoon train and returning the same evening after the meeting. Apart from the obvious of off peak travel, is there any other way of reducing the cost?

Where abouts in the NW are you starting from?
But a good way to save would be to split at either Crewe or Stoke and then onward travel by a London Midland Only train, longer journey but cheaper.Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -
Carlisle is in the north west, so is Runcorn.
There's about 130 miles between them.
Where are you travelling from?
Are you entitled to a railcard?0 -
Warrington or Liverpool. Single and mid Forties so don't know about railcard.0

Try ticketysplit to see where a walk up ticket would split then see if it works for buying in advance.0

Can you get back to London Euston for 19:13 from your meeting? if Yes and you don't mind a train that goes via everywhere and take around 4 hours, then get a Off Peak Return London Midland Only at £39, can be cheaper if you book in advance and get advance tickets.
This is a walk on ticket so just ask for it at Liverpool Lime St and you can only travel on London Midland trains and if you miss the 19:13 you will have to pay extra to travel on a Virgin train.Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -
