Land Registry Info

Hi Guys,

I have been asked by an elderly relative to help obtain some land registry documents from their website to sort out a dispute.

I believe that i have to pay a few pounds for the documents. Will the land owners know that i have browsed or requested their information from the land registry - as i do not want to get involved in the dispute/arguments?

    No you can download what you like and they do not know.
    It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
    Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
    If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
    If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
    If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

    If it is a dispute about the location of a boundary, don't bother. The plans are not sufficiently accurate. If you give a brief outline of the core issue of the dispute, we can tell you if the Land Reg is likely to give a useful answer.

    Previous responses about whether owners will know about your enquiries are not quite correct. Although owners are not informed that enquiries have been made, if they ask us to confirm this - like in a freedom of information request, for example - the information can be provided. Our systems do record who lodges applications and searches.
