Hi Little Miss, been looking over this thread - fab idea! Definitely makes tackling debt seem more manageable.
Can you please add me to the list? My 1% is £90
I've had a look through the suggestions on here, and have added what appealed to me onto a spreadsheet (not quite at 100 yet) where I'll track progress against each item and then put it in a tin. I think everytime I get to 2% I'll pay mine into my current account and then put it towards my 0% cc which will start attracting interest next April. My % relates to my total debt, but will be ecstatic if I reach 36% by April as it'd cover the whole of the MBNA cc
A couple of additional suggestions for the list/newcomers:
- see if you can do any work for your local elections office. The police commissioner elections are coming up in November, I'll be doing Presiding Officer duties which means I'll take home in the region of £200 for the day's work (6.30am-10.30pm) and 2 hour training session. Some councils will also have local elections in May (slightly less pay, same hours). Other things include canvassing, postal vote opening, vote counting.
- sustainable travel - as my work is only 7 miles away I can either cycle or run it, saving on the £3.80 bus fare (I've had to use this month's saving on additional bike lights!). My OH can get a lift to work (and returns this favour) about once a week - saving £8 petrol although off work sick at the mo. so this won't kick in for a few monthsAlso worth saving your travel costs if you can work from home.
Looking forward to really getting started on this - pleased to hear it's free listing weekend on ebay, perfect timing :TTotal debt: 31st December 2011 [STRIKE]£15783.37[/STRIKE], 30 June 2012 [STRIKE]£9934.07[/STRIKE]

I hjave also carried out a couple of mystery shops today so have £17 waiting to be paid to me from these and signed up for another two next week (on top of the two I have to carry out tomorrow) so altogether I should have a couple of % entering the pot later.
Keep % ing everyone xxx
Craftingmad, who do you mystery shop for? Shopping is pretty much the only thing i am good at, so I thought why not make some money from it! Thanks0 -

I shop for a few different companies - I found them all on MSE - on the up your income board there is a thread all about mystery shopping and a list of companies you can join. I'll see if I can find it and then post a link xxMortgage - £2338.07 paid off Feb 2023 BTL 1 £51,089.10 £35789.36 paid off July 2025 BTL 2 £81,504.52 BTL 3 £77,497.020 -
Morning all!!!!
Hope you're all having a lovely Saturday morning. I'm about to do some more decluttering in the spare bedroom as it has become overrun in the last few weeks and am going to put some of it on eBay. Craftingmad I hope you don't mind me asking but I have lots of crafting items such as making memory slice cartridges, board books, scrapbooking papers etc and wanted to sell them as they are going to waste, is there anywhere you would recommend selling them other than eBay? I went and got some of the vacuum storage bags so am going to sort my clothes into sizes and put my smaller clothes into the loft and then ask lose weight I'm going to sell the clothes that fit me now and bring the next lots down from the loft. I'm feeling very positive and proactive today. It's almost payday (26th) but will have to wait to roughly the 8th of November before we can add to our %'s just to make sure we've got everything covered for the month. It's uncertain if we'll get below 10k before the 31st of December, but it's going to be so close and that really is amazing. It's astonishing what we can achieve when we really put our minds to it!!!
Well enough rambling from me, I'm off to declutter, hope you all have a lovely Saturday

This week I've been selling a load of my beauty products as I've found out I have an intolerance to one of the ingredients in them. I'm up to £41 so far! (Once my Mum has paid up)
I've printed off the list of all the ways to make money, so I can get some more ideas from there, plus I need to start reading through this thread. Great idea Little Miss0 -

Another 1% (£50) off the card! It's payday next week and the dosh I'd transferred to my current account wasn't needed for the car expenses as I thought it might have been so it's just been paid to the card
I'm only a few pennies away from another percent in my paypal account too, would be nice to reach 10% paid off the card before the end of November! I've had a slack few weeks on the tightening the belt front so I'm all set, ready for knuckling down through November. Also have a stack of stuff to photograph and get listed on ebay tomorrow, if it doesn't sell it'll be listed ready for a less busy time on there and if it does sell all the better for me!
I've also got my first letter written for getting the info on my old ppi, need to print it off then post it along with ebay parcels on Monday! The debtWILLbegone - taking it 1% at a time

Morning!! Been a bit sparse over the last 2 days. Sold a small bundle of DDs tops, just awaiting payment. Got 19 things ending today, 6 currently have bids, lots have watchers. Anything that sells will get posted out tomorrow if they've paid on time, anything that doesnt will get relisted today. Got a few more things to list, 4 nice maternity dresses which i think will pull in about £30-40 for the 4 (going to list them separately but mention i have other maternity listed too
) Im hoping to get £65 in my paypal before i transfer it to my CC debt (another 1%) this is the only payment i am hoping to make before payday (30/31st Oct) as until then i need to keep us afloat!!
Husband has cycled to work all week last week, total of 40 miles saved in petrol, in our current car thats about £5 worth :T
Looking at a new (to us) car today, Dad is going to loan us the money interest free for a year to enable us to get a car that fits our soon to be 5 person family in (we have a 4 seater ATM), Sadly we cant sell our car yet as we still owe 4k finance on it and no where will give us credit to pay the finance on it to sell it yet. Soooo, for the next year ill be paying my finance (£94 a month) plus my 12 monthly payments to my dad (somewhere under £200 a month) which is a bit sucky but hopefully come June we will be able to get credit to pay the finance off, sell the car and then pay the credit card/loan off with the funds from selling the car (are you following me? :rotfl:) Unless Husband pulls in a 5k short term contract for his business this is the only way i can see it working. Im also going to have to keep a seperate fund for car maintenance as for the past 3 years we've had newish cars with warranty on and free breakdown cover etc etc so having a 10 year car may pose some problems if i dont have any back up funds.
Gosh, ive waffled on alothusband and smallest child still asleep or atleast lazing upstairs so i best get something productive done
