Surveyor has just been

Hi There,

The surveyor for the buyers of my house has just been. He was in and out in 10 mins (if it was that). Checked in all the rooms and the loft, then sat in his car for 10 mins writing stuff down which I presume was his report.

Im a natural worrier, and am just wondering if there was anything wrong, would he have been in longer, or would he have told me?

Jackie

Jackie - that must have been a valuation if he was in and out that quickly. The valuation is purely for the lender's benefit to make sure they will get their money back on the property. If you have a look at the RICS website https://www.rics.org and look at guidance leaflet entitled 'Understanding Property Surveys' it gives you details of the valuation, Homebuyers and the Building Survey.

Agree with Mary, such a quick in & out indicates that he was only carrying out a lenders valuation. Also, the fact that he sat in his car to make notes.

A homebuyer's survey averages 45-60mins & the surveyor will be taking notes as he conducts his survey of the house.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
