Using laptop screen as monitor for PC?

The monitor I use for my PC is broken so I was thinking (until I get a replacement monitor) can I use the screen on my Laptop as a monitor for my PC using a VGA lead between the PC and the laptop?

If it can be done how do I configure the laptop which is running on Windows 7?

Thanks

    You cant.

however, you could possibly use remote access/desktop software to control the PC from your laptop if the PC goes online as soon as you switch it on.

Windows has a built-in remote desktop facility.
But unfortunately you would need the PC up with a usable display to be able to configure it.

This is the right solution: Google for "MaxiVista"

Does exactly what the poster asks for. Enjoy.

The OP would need to install the software on the PC without a display in order to use the laptop as a second monitor, at least according to the MaxiVista website.

Not that effective when you've have no screen to see what you're doing.

Have you no LCD TV's anywhere in the house? every single one I have seen has a VGA PC input on it, just plug the computer into that for now!
