Surprising advice from Barclaycard

Last night I phoned up to make a balance transfer as I was told that I had more than one offer on my account, but only 1 would show up online and it was not the one I wanted.
Once the transfer was completed and they asked if they could help with anything else I thought I would chance my luck and ask if there are any offers to transfer to my bank account, fully expecting a 'no, sorry'.
However, although they said no to there being any offers they then went on to advise that if I had another card with a zero balance on it I could do a balance transfer from that card, leaving that card with a + balance, and then request a 'credit refund' from the other lender!
I knew that this was possible and have actually done it once in the past, but I thought it was very much frowned upon by the card companies. But according to the guy I spoke to at Barclaycard it is common place nowadays and is something they deal with every day!
Bonus!

What he forgot to say is that you would be in breach of the terms & condition and the balance transfer might be decline if you've got nothing to transfer....very, very silly advise.0

Sounds like a sly way to gain more "business" (ie. debt) for Barclays...
The guy is probably on commission for the amount of balance transfers he does.Capital One Classic Extra £2,450 [06-2012]
Barclaycard Platinum £5,200 [08-2015]
Lloyds Bank Platinum £750 [11-2015]

Yes that is exactly my point. Hence the 'surprising' part. It seems odd that they are advising something that breaks the t's and c's of all cards, including their own.0 -
Well the transfer arrived at my card today. 5 Minute phone call (mostly getting through security due to forgotten password:D) and the money is on its way to my bank account and should be there tomorrow :j
The card i transferred it to had no promotional deals on it anyway so no danger of that being cancelled for breaking t's & c's. They didnt ask any questions or 'tell me off' whatsoever0
