Does buildings insurance on leasehold flat cover outside walls on flat

My daughter is trying to sell her 2nd storey flat and one of her buyers had a problem with their mortgage survey which came up with the outside wall ties coming away from wall. (Sorry not very technical!) So the purchase could not go ahead. Her managing agent, who has the building insurance, has said this is not covered as it is fair, wear and tear and is asking for an £8,000 contribution from my daughter to repair the wall. It is obviously a major construction problem, but I feel that this should be covered by buildings insurance. My daughter has spoken to the insurance company and they insist it is fair wear and tear as she lives near the sea in Hampshire. I think she is being ripped off by these managing agents and insurance company and should not pay this amount. Anybody any thoughts on this? She is so desperate to move now as she has a young baby and I do feel it is also dangerous to have this wall problem. Unfortunately when she bought the flat, she didnt have a structural survey done, just a housebuyers survey as she felt it wasnt necessary so wasnt picked up.

A buildings policy won't cover any wear/tear/maintenance items.0

Wall ties are not an Insurance issue. £8k appears to be a bit of a rip off amount, from what I have seen previously. Your daughter should get a couple of estimates from builders who are to do this work, to see what they say.The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0

Also another issue is whether there is a central maintenance fund for the flats. Ask what this cover. Some just covers roofs, guttering, payments, tarmacking etc and not walls. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums.
