Beauty Shop Deposit Question

Hello.
I am wondering if someone can answer my query.
I am getting married in September to my Fianc!e, she went out on Saturday shopping to find a beautician shop to do her bridal make up for the special day, at this time she paid a £50 deposit as she thought she could arrange travel up, she then found out she couldn't she also found out the beautician shop could not travel to her home.
She went back to the shop on Tuesday to inform them that she would like to cancel and asked for her deposit back, they refused to give her it...my question is, can she get it back due to these reasons?
1. They did not inform her it was a non-refundable deposit? she only received a receipt as she paid by card.
2. She felt pressured into it and felt really awkward?
3. She is giving them well over 3 months notice?
Please help the deposit was only £50 however I would like to know as £50 now a days is a hell of a lot of money....
Regards

Sorry but those 3 reasons are very poor
1. did they tell her the deposit was refundable? Deposits are by their very nature paid up on the formation of a contract.
2. she's an adult right? she can therefore make decisions as to whether she should or shouldn't make a booking. Otherwise she should leave the house with the necessary amount of money only so avoid these situations.
3. this is a little better.
It really depends whether they can fill the appointment slot, amongst many other factors.
The whole 'deposit' situation is very grey, although it is know they cannot impose financial penalties up on a consumer. In this case I would say anything above a small admin fee would amount to a financial penalty bearing in mind 1/4 years notice. Although they could argue they will try to fill the spot before refunding you.0 -
