BT. Gaaaaaaaaaaaah!!

I normally only have good things to say about BT. BUT in the last few months they have drive me MAD. Taking payments earlier than they should, taking payments without sending bills etc etc.
Because of them taking out a payment at an unarranged time, it was returned unpaid by my bank.
So they cancelled the direct debit. But did they tell me? Noooooo of course not!
I hear nothing about it until I get a bill threatening to disconnect me.
So I phone them to pay, and the amount has doubled, because the original amount was for may, plus the bill for june. Again, not received a bill but nevertheless I paid the full 'arrears' of £86 for MAY AND JUNE.
I set up the direct debit again, and clarify with the woman on the phone WHEN the payments would be taken. She tells me, I would receive a bill for the month, and the payment would be taken 10 working days after the bill date.
The £86 was processed on the 11th of june.
Yesterday 13th of june, I discovered that they had attempted to take £40 odd from my bank! It had of course been returned unpaid, so they cancelled my direct debit. I didn't owe them any money, and hadn't received a bill! So why are they trying to take my money?!?!:mad:
I phoned up their 'bills' helpline, all automated of course! I pressed all the buttons about how I had a query about my bill and payments, entered my account number.... Then an automated woman said 'you have no balance to pay. Goodbye' Then I was disconnected!! 20 minutes on the blimmin phone for the computer to tell me what I already know!!!
BT!!:mad::mad: WHY WON'T A HUMAN SPEAK TO ME?!
I'm going to send a strongly worded letter, demanding that they cover the unarranged overdraft and returned item fee the bank will charge me.
If I could cancel, I would!

I see their shares are down 3.2% today. Maybe they're a sinking ship?!? Or maybe the markets don't like the new footie deal?!?0

My sympathies Tina,BT did the same to me a few years ago, except they tried to take a payment of different amounts the month before the direct debit was meant to start,Santander charged me in total £140 odd for failed direct debits, money that I still have not gotten back from either party, they each blame each other & say I have to get them money back off the other party.
Stupidly in Nov 2010,BT talked me into setting up a DD for a monthly amount of £25,then tried to take £37 at the start of December without informing me they had changed the amount.
When I rang up to complain,I was told they informed me in the latest bill, which I hadn't received as I got my bill on 8th of each month..BT agent couldn't answer that.I've now moved from BT & will never have any services from them again..0 -

Hmm well it appears i'm not alone! I've had similar problems with them in previous months and always been spoken to as though it was my mistake. Always a strong indian accent on the other line, and never any good communication!
Am I mad for expecting a bill before payments are taken??? I was told a payment would be taken 10 days after a bill date. But I have rarely received a bill before the money is taken.
After this contract is up I will be moving my custom elsewhere.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I cancelled BT when I had issues with their billing and the arrogant jobs worths they employ.
Now I am plagued with nuisance calls wanting me to sign up for their "fantastic deals" despite being on TPS and asking BT not to call."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
