Mobile Phone Insurance

Hi guys,

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 and have approx a year and a half left on my contract with it. I was wondering if anyone can recommend insurance on it. I used to just go with the company i could with my provider but decided not this time. Now i have a job and the fact everyone i know keeps breaking their phone im beginning to think i should just get insurance.

I dont really know the difference in the tiers of insurance some companies are offering and wouldnt know what company is good or bad to go with.

I can upgrade my RBS bank account and get phone insurance but they have two types of "royalties" account (silver £8 and gold £13) and im not sure how that effects the mobile phone insurance on it. (Link: http://www.rbs.co.uk/personal/current-accounts/g1/select-silver-account.ashx).

Edit :when speaking to their online representive: "The main difference is the Select Silver covers you for up to £750 and the Advantage Gold is £1000 and the excess differs £100 for select Silver and £50 for Advantage Gold" £100 seems alot for a phone which will probably drop in value significantly in the next year.

Any help is appreciated!

Depends on the cost of replacing the phone, compared with the cost/benefits of the Insurance. Claiming off these phone Insurances, is not always that straight forward, according to many comments I have heard/seen.

Have you done your own research ? Any online reviews ?

You don't normally get people posting on MSE, recommending companies. Well apart from occasional SPAM.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

You could probably get a replacement Galaxy s2 on ebay for about £150 (i think) so insurance with an excess of £100 and £8 a month charge seems a bit pointless to me.

I would put £8 a month into a savings account and hope I don't damage/lose the phone in the first few months.
