Car Insurance Question

Just have a quick question for anyone with knowledge of the way car insurance works...

Basically, I am insured fully comp on my car, which is registered at my Mums address (she is the primary driver) - is there anything untoward about me being named as the primary driver on another vehicle and having it registered to my home address?

I think you need to update the Insurers of the current car, that you don't live at the address where it is registered and that you will have access to another car.

If you don't do this, if you needed to claim, it might get complicated, as you don't live at the address you have registered with them.

Once you have provided the existing Insurers of the updated information, you can do what you want.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
  • I had an accident in january which was not my fault and the car was repaire by the third party insurance which just happened to be the same one, my questions is I have now insured a second car for my grandaughter and when they found out about the accident the quote went up by 600 how can this be, have tried several other companies all with the same resulit get a quote then soon as they found out about the accident the quote goes up

how can this be on a no fault accident can someone please explain as not getting anywhere with the insurance companies

Even a no fault accident can bump up your premiums as you are considered a greater risk

  • Tonywales - posting a new question in someone else's thread is considered rude and makes it difficult for others to see the flow of the thread. Please post in a new topic.

OP - I'd be very careful. If your mum's address is a lower risk than yours your insurers may turn around and cancel/refuse insurance as they may suspect you of fraud.

It looks like you are messing around when getting quotes by first not disclosing the claim, then re-doing the quote with the correct details of your history. (When you submit a quote you do agree the info you provide is correct, thus insurers may have flagged you seemingly massaging the truth!)

Try just putting in a single truthful application and see if that makes any difference - though some insurers may already have you flagged on their database as "up to something"!
