Hello, Can I ask what is the best way to take payment for my car that I am selling on a Saturday? seeing as bank transfers cant be done on a sat,
potential buyer & I have been talking for a week he's coming to visit on sat (a overnight travelling distance) by ferry quite common as I live in Aberdeen, what's safest way for me to receive payment?
is a bankers draft ok? or cash where I can go straight to a bank & put it in?
oh man you can tell I don't know what im doing!

Cash at the bank.0

ok thank you
I initially said bank transfer would be ok as they would travelling from Orkney on the ferry so I don't know if 4k in cash is safe, till I realised it was a Saturday!0 -
And take the buyer and the money to the bank with you before handing over the keys.0

Don't swap a Bankers Draft for your car. They can be faked but you don't get to know for a week or so.
Cash is safest. Preferably take the buyer with you when you pay it in."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
Cash is King (on the buyers side too, wait for him trying to chip you!) but ultimately, the safest way for pricey sales is to go with the purchaser to a bank. See them draw it out and then pay it straight back in to your own account.0

Cash at the bank or if access to a bank is not possible, cash but check the roller marks on the notes to make sure they are not fake. Detector pens are not enough these days.0
