Thursday 14th June - What small DFW things will you do today??!

Posts: 169 Forumite
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym. :money:
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.:j
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important!

Morning all, hope everyone is well.
So back to work today and still full of bugs. Hoping I'll make it through, only two days then it's the weekend!!
A blow of bad news last night, OH lost approx 5 months worth of work (he runs his own business), so now he needs to (pronto) find some work. Although we don't live together, I feel like anything I can do to help I should, and if I can clear up this debt a little quicker that might help?!
DFW things:
* Check banks
* All meals from stores
* Pop in to town after work to get Father's day presents for dad and grandad
* Hopefully otherwise a nsd
* Keep looking for evening work
* Close old Lloyds bank account (not been used in years)
* Fingers crossed work have agreed to finance my course for September
That's pretty much all, mainly working hard!
Have a good day all

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for starting us off, Sunshine. I hope things work out for your other half.
I went to a bring and share lunch at work yesterday for a colleague who is leaving. They have no job to go to, but had been doing some brainstorming on a huge roll of paper for things that they would like to do in the future. Everything from hobbies and interests to employment. It seemed like a really good idea to get things down on paper and try planning for what you really want out of life, so I think I'll have a go this weekend. The next step would be to figure out how to achieve them!
Things to do today...
NSD
All meals from stores
Check bank
Photograph things ready to list on Ebay when they have the next fee-free listing weekend!
Lot's of work to get through at work today

Hello all, I hope I am doing this right;
*Made a list of all weekly grocery essentials and meal plans in order to not overspend or buy cruddy ready meals.
*Took the £100 I had been owed to the bank and changed it to £5 notes and put one in 20 different envelopes and labelled them with the dates. This is what I am allowed to spend each day and I have the choice of saving it or not.
*Had a look at the snowball calculator and have started a budget diary. Should be debt free by May 2013.
*Took packed lunch to work.
*Hunted high and low for a sauce for dinner and found one in the back of the cupboard which has saved me 75p.
*emptied the penny jar to find £5 for Jamie's great Britain which is £5 at work and is my mums Christmas present. Avoided taking £10 out the bank.
*told my oh off or using too much fairy liquid. Naughty boy.0 -
