Best last minute deals are where?

OH and I are madly saving for a week in the sun somewhere abroad in mid-late September and I was wondering when the time comes to go, where the best late deals are? I've seen a few in the window of the local Thomas Cook/Thomson but do they have more inside when asked? Are any of the websites better? We are looking for a week All-Inclusive in Spain/Canaries/Turkey.

Things have moved away from cheap last minute deals, USUALLY it's cheaper to book earlier now.

But if you were to book a last minute deal, how close to departing are the best deals? I've got a week off at the start of July, looking at possibly going somewhere, but its not the end of the world if I dont?

What's your idea of a "best deal"?

I think that the best deals are when you see somewhere you would like to go, with accomodation you would be happy to stay in and at a price you are happy to pay.

Book it and then don't check the price again afterwards.

Thanks for the advice so far. I am talking up to a couple of days in advance. I am guessing the travel agents' windows are probably the best option for that but I will do some nosing about. I have looked at some websites and it seems that a week in the middle of September to Lanzarote is still £700+ AI for us both, whereas I hae seen AI weeks in Lanzarote for £180 each in Thomas Cook's window as long as you don;t mind going in 3 or 4 days time.
