Restaurants/play places near Harry Potter Tour

Hope some of you can help.
Me and hubby are bringing son (8) and his friend down to the HP Tour on the 23rd June. It is a treat for sons birthday.
We live in Lincolnshire, so will be heading out early morning to get down to London for just after lunch. We dont get into tour until 5pm so thought we would have food(late lunch) first and maybe find a play barn or similar to keep kids amused till our entry time.
Was thinking about Pizza Hut for lunch (with KEF vouchers). Can anyone recommend a nice hut near by?
Also can anyone recommend a indoor play area which kids can play in for few hours, or any other attraction that wont cost a fortune and will kill couple of hours?
Thanks in advance

If it is the Harry Potter Studios tour it is not in London (although advertised as such for some reason) and is in Hertfordshire which is about 25 miles from the centre of London. There is not a lot near the studios. The nearest Pizza Hut is about 4 miles away

There is a play centre called Gambados in Woodside Lesiure Centre which is about 2 miles from the HP sudios and also there is a bowling place and a Vue (Watford) cinema there. There is a Frankie and Benny's restaurant and if it is for a birthday you can bring a cake and they lower the lights and bring out the cake with candles and the restaurant play Happy Birthday over the sound system with all the staff singing and clapping.

  • For us northerns anything within the M25 is classed as London :D

Thank you will look at these recommendations.

The only thing with Gambado when I went , was that they wanted you to pay a joining fee.

****Sorry - just realised how irrelevant my post is compared to what OP asked - oh well!!!*****

    Hi OP

We went to the HP tour on Monday. Thoroughly enjoyed it and I'm sure you will too.
Don't be afraid to turn up a bit early. There is the restaurant, Starbucks outlet and large shop there to have a look around. With regards to the time of your tour, this was managed differently to how I expected. I assumed we would wait around and they would call you when your time comes.
This isn't the case. You join what for us was quite a long queue and wait to go into the first film room. Our tour was booked at 12pm. We turned up at 11am and joined the queue just before half past. Our ticket was scanned before we entered the queue and nothing was mentioned at any point about tour times. We probably spent about 20 - 25 mins in this queue - it did seem particularly busy when we went though. I don't know if they actually limit the ticket numbers for any time!
The first film room holds about 110 people so once that room is "full" they just stop anyone else going in and then it's a 10 min wait until the next batch go in!

Anyway - hope this helps. Unfortunately I haven't got any info about amusements in the vicinity. There wasn't anything in the near vicinity that I could see. Oh - and unsurprisingly the shop is quite expensive!!

    Enjoy!!
