Some sellers!

Bought two pairs of cords. First pair described as "worn a few times but still in good condition". Well - I'm not even sure that I would give them to a charity shop, the waistband has become completely un-stitched for a start. The only thing they are fit for is the bin.

The others are OK, although they smell so bad they are making me sneeze, so they have gone straight into the wash.

For 99p + postage it isn't even worth bothering to return the first pair. Just wondering what kind of feedback people would leave in such a situation.

I would contact the seller first before leaving feedback, explain that you are unhappy and the reason why and then go from there.

There isn't really anywhere I want to go though. It's hardly worth posting them back to get a refund, and I am inclined to just chuck them away. I doubt they will refund me if I don't send them back as they will just think I' a scammer.

I don't care about losing a couple of quid, I just can't believe people have the nerve to sell something so cr*p. I'd be ashamed to send those out, I really would.

I think leaving negative feedback without contacting the seller is not really fair. There are alot of posts on here about people receiving negative/ neutral feedback when the buyer has not contacted them. You can choose to do whatever you like its up to you.

I received a 'new without tags' item that had 2 (shockingly badly) sewn up holes and a curry stain on the arm.

Seller refused to refund, so I opened an eBay case.

I would contact the seller first & say that you were really disappointed to receive the cords as they were not in the condition you were expecting, enclose some photos of the damage if you can. Tell her that you want to return them for a full refund & ask her to pay the return costs.
If she refuses then leave a neg & low stars.

This is precisely, however, why it happens. People get sent misdescribed/smelly/unwashed rubbish. Sellers who don't want poor feedback should not do that in the first place.

Yes, there are genuine cases of hardship caused by buyers going straight to dispute or feedback, but really, sellers who don't take much responsibility for their sales or treat their customers poorly to start off with end up with problems like this.

I wouldn't expect a seller who sent this sort of rubbish out to be amenable to refunding me - let alone giving me return postage - and it's quite frankly not worth my time. This is why I don't buy clothes on eBay from private sellers though, so I don't know what I'd do in the event that this happened to me. I've had borderline stuff before but it wasn't too bad or worth complaining about.

OP shouldn't have to put up with this though, tbh, so I don't blame her if she doesn't think the time taken to argue with a seller who would send out an item in that condition, or pack it up for a return even if costs were forthcoming, would be worth what she got back.

Maybe dropping a line to the seller would help, but I can't see much prospect of the seller being amenable to anything significant.

I left a neutral in the end. She sent me a message saying the waistband was unstitched when she bought them new. I was half tempted to reply telling her not to take me for an idiot, but I am going to bite my tongue and rise above it.

Then why sell it in the first place, and why not mention it in the listing as a kind of selling feature?

And...why simply lie? No shop would sell something like that, and no buyer would buy it.

If she knew there was a problem why didn't she mention it?
Sellers like this really annoy me.
