Recipes for used sloe berries :¬)

Hello, I've just filtered my sloe gin made last Autumn and wondered if anyone had ever done anything with the discarded berries?

Thanks

I just rinse the sugar off & compost them. Hate throwing anything away, but even I was stuck for culinary ideas for used sloes. If it was raspeberries or blackberries, I'd have tried the boozy berries on ice-cream to see if it was worth eating, but sloes are sooooooo sour. I did make some sloe jelly one year to have with meat, & even that nearly took the linings of the roof of my mouth off!

Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!

Foxgloves, I bet you didn't put enough sugar in!

I make sloe jelly every year to use instead of redcurrant jelly...it may not be as nice with used sloes, but give it a go.

I make Sloe (Gin) Jelly every year with my sloes. The recipe I follow has a lot of apple in it which balances out the sloes. I love the result and hate it when I run out.
