How do you work that out? Why is it that, on this forum at least, it's only Asda that seem to be doing this and they have done it to several people?

If you read the thread (and possibly the post just above yours ;) ) you will see it's not just ASDA that this happens to. I also know from a retailer point of view it definitely isn't just ASDA this problem occurs with.

You still haven't explained how you manage to come to the conclusion that Asda are not responsible.

Yes, it does happen very occasionally with other retailers (and the thread above mine appeared to be problem with the card rather than the retailer) but Asda seem to make a habit of it. I believe they have even been featured on Watchdog.

Hi, this is my first time using a Forum, so I apologise if I've posted this in the wrong place :)

I went to Asda on Sunday, and when I left I realised that my Visa Debit Card had been charged twice. I returned to the store within minutes of leaving and raised this issue with the staff on Customer Services, I was told to return the following day with a statement and my receipt and a refund would be issued.

So, on the Monday, I returned to Asda with the receipt, a statement from the bank and Authorisation Codes for both transactions only to be told that Asda don't have my money, and I wouldn't get it back for 2 weeks???

Basically, I have been left with an unauthorised overdraft, returned Direct Debits, and the possibility of my mobile phone being cut off until I am able to pay the bill (when Asda gives me the money they took from my account basically). And RBS are saying that there is nothing they can do about it.

Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to challenge this? I don't really fancy having to pay over £60 in bank charges just because Asda decided that they wanted me to pay twice for my (already over-priced :rotfl:) groceries!!

The bank have said there is nothing that can be done and I have to take it up with Asda or wait for the money to "just drop" into my account - very helpful, and there was me thinking that you were protected when you shopped with Visa.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

    Lisa

I don't think Asda groceries are over priced. I think they are probably the cheapest of the 3 main supermarkets.

  • Hi All,

Last Sunday(26/05/2013) I purchased few things in Andover ASDA. After I scanned those in kiosk,I swaped my Forex plus card (HDFC bank,India) .After this in swipe machine it asked to sign on the receipt(As for Forex plus prepaid debit card it is mandatory to sign on the money receipt). But unfortunately no receipt came out of machine. The attendant told that machine activity frozen and asked me to scan my things again.I had to go to a counter, scan the materials and paid by cash. ASDA people are saying, they can do nothing, never they can give me a cancel receipt, rather asked to talk to bank as bank is holding the money according to them.I raised complain to Bank,They lodge a complain. How long it may take? can I lodge a complain to any ASDA Superstore mail id/phone.Please Advise.

You would be better to have started your own thread for this.

    Anyway, first things first.

Do you have the receipt/statement for the amount you paid on the card AND the receipt for the payment (presumably exactly the same amount) for the cash?
