Is it possible to claim these bank charges now?

Off the back of a thread I just read I'm now wondering if I am able to claim my overdraft charges Back. I was made redundant last year and I bank with Halifax. As I have an £1150 overdraft I get charged £1 a day however with little money going in now I get charged £30 a month for which I have to then find to pay each month and so on, occasionally not finding it in time and then getting charged daily £5. Am I able to reclaim these under the Hardship clause or not because charges are now not classed as excessive?

They are certainly not excessive. Although that argument has failed anyway.

You may be able to ask the bank to review your charges under financial hardship criteria. Hardship typically covers people with priority arrears (council tax, utilities etc). It doesnt cover those struggling but just about managing to make ends meet. However, if you tell them your position, they may still offer a goodwill refund of some of the charges.

They are agreed overdraft charges, so the hardship provisions may not strictly apply.

However they are required to deal sympathetically with financial difficulties.

Tbh I'd be grateful if they agreed to could just stop charging them for now so guess wouldn't hurt to pop in and see what they can do
