It's the way you have written your post, you seem angry and annoyed with one person in general, and I can appreciate that might tarnish a good day but you have come across as rude and I am surprised that as someone who ran a competition you are allowed to post such comments about the person openly on a forum, regardless of whether it holds water or not surely that puts your job at risk?

The problem is the nice people will read this post, the people who are rude, and ruin comps are the ones who wouldn't read this post which is why it's a shame you have posted it here.

Some people are ungrateful if you give them the world, others would give the world and the majority of us here are the latter. I would suggest to try and ignore rudeness and not rise to it, the lovely peopl who are genuinely grateful and thankful are the ones that make the job worthwhile.
    Comping wishlist for 2017
    1. Family holiday 2. Christmas presents :rudolf: 3. Fishing stuff

I Think its harsh for u to say that ppl who forget to add some details in the emails are ruining it

That's not what I meant. The people who make mistakes entering are wasting their time, the people who send rude comments or complain when the conditions of the prize are met are the ones who are ruining it for others.

With anything posted on the Internet you have to remember you don't know who is posting it. With face-to-face communication a lot of it depends on how you are saying what you are saying, not just what your saying. This means posts can easily be misinterpreted.
  • I think I'd be more annoyed with one person entering multiple times for all the people in their family + dog + cat at various address when they know damn well THEY will receive the prize.
  • You've got to remember that people that use the MSE website more than likely are entering hundreds of competitions a day and by the time they've won a competition they can't remember what the terms and conditions of it was. The winner is just really excited about getting their prize and wants to make sure they are going to receive it and question how they are going to and when this will be. I highly doubt they mean to be rude or malicious in any way.

This thread doesn't come across as the best and definitely isn't in the right section - I came on to congratulate people not to lectured. As everyone above has said people have obviously made innocent mistakes nobody would be doing these things on purpose because they would be wasting their time as well as the person holding the competition?

I can see you don't want to offend anybody but what you've said can be easily misinterpreted so let's not quibble and put this to bed now people- eh? xxx

I am aware that a very few people do that but seriously
how do they find the time? there are only 24 hours in a day. I imagine it as a factory setting where as soon as one person has done their 8 hour shift on the computer
someone else takes over. it must be mind numbingly boring to enter all the competitions 15 times over:rotfl:
    63 mortgage payments to go.

    Zero wins 2016 😥

Who know? Like those who enter the ITV comps with about 6 phones, six times each. Speaking to someone on another forum a few months ago she said she can spend over an hour doing ITV comps over and over and over again.
Still, as long as they're happy ....
  • I can understand where you are coming from, I find it very surprising that after winning someone could be rude but that is just one person. In my experience of using MSE everyone has been very polite and genuine and grateful for competition posters and wins. It's a shame that there's always the odd person who is rude and impatient.

If I win something I don't chase it up until at least 28 days has passed and if it has not arrived just send a polite email in case they forgot about me :). But everyone is different. And at the end of the day if a prize winner emails regarding their prize and their question has been answered they can't really expect more replies.

I'd say I'm sorry you've had to deal with a rude comper but all I can say is there's plenty more who are not like this. And most people who haven't put answers/details in emails or forms have probably just forgotten I know like hulahoop I've forgotten many times to attach things to emails, it's easily done. However, I know like myself unless it is stated as necessary I never add my phone number as I get enough cold callers to last me a lifetime :).

Please don't let this one bad experience give a bad name to all compers because I know on MSE 99.9% are polite, grateful people.

Reminds me of the shop I used to work in, which would have been great, were it not for the customers............ but then without them :rotfl:

Hopefully the sites running the comps will generate some interest and support and maybe even future sales from the compers, that's what its all about after all.

You're not the same person as the one who was ranting on here under a new alter ego the other night are you?

It's human nature for some to make mistakes when entering, it's hardly something to moan about.. and anyone not reading the T&C's can just be excluded. Let's not forget that companies are getting exposure/sales/publicity from any comp they run eh.

Taking a fresh look at this after a couple of hours break, I think you are overlooking the whole 'its advertising thing' which is why the promoters run the comps.

Yes it costs them money, but are they really saying they will stop comps if we dont comply, or is that just your view of things.

If it's your job to reply to the gumpy emails etc, why not just get on with it, if it's what you're paid for.
