Car insurance worry :( HELP!!

After thinking everything had gone ok with setting up my car insurance im now worried.... :(

Ill make it brief....

Insurance = £511, was told deposit £128 followed by 10 months of £44 a month....

My partner has put forward the deposit for me which has been paid, and first installment due to go out of my bank account in 2 days time (insurance doesn't start until 21st)

So there I am thinking great...insurance sorted no worries!

Until last night when I got home and had a credit agreement through from Creation Consumer Finance Ltd for the insurance! I've checked my bank account and a Direct Debit has been set up for Creation. It doesn't mention anything about a DRO in the t & c's, only bankruptcy, but then the amount of credit is less than the £500 where I would have to declare anyway...Although I did tell the guy on the phone Im subject to a DRO and he said it's fine!

Am I going to end up with a cancelled insurance policy now or is a credit check for insurance (although through a finance company?) different from a full on credit check and it will be fine?

Sorry for my rambling but I'm really worried now! My previous insurer have told me that even though I've told them I am leaving them, that the quote still stands until renewal day if I change my mind, so I've sent the credit agreement back today recorded signed for in the hope I hear from them before the 21st so I can keep my current insurer if it all goes wrong...

Don't worry it will all be ok.
The credit check has already been done that's why you just need to sign it to be bound by the terms and conditions.

    Really?

It says in the t&c's that by signing I agree to a credit check...? I hope your right! It's really worrying me!

In the pre-contract credit information page it states "if we decide not to proceed with your application for credit as a result of information obtained from a credit reference agency we will tell you that it has been refused on that basis and give you the details of the credit reference agency we used"

It is that bit that is worrying me, although the agreement I signed was signed by them and then signed by me and sent back to them -hence I'm confused!!

I've just looked on the website for creation who are providing the credit and realised there is a 'my account' so I register with the details from the letter with the agreement and it's all showing on there the deposit paid the amount of credit the first and last payment dates so I think it's safe to say I'm worrying for nothing! Just so scared of things going wrong, on the upside I'll be earning some green ticks on my credit file to help when it comes to rebuilding it!

I'm having a similar worry at the mo anyway :)

Currently with swift (115 per month  renewal quote with an extra years no claims 144 per month ) so i need to move. Found a company called Insure who'll do it for 80 per month, but I've just spoken to them and they do a credit check...

bricking it. I'm just going to give it a go anyway, but I will feel SO robbed by swift :( I only drive a vile looking old style fiat punto! driven for 5 years, 3 years no claims (2 years inbetween where i didnt have a car), no claims, and they still do that :(

Try ringing swift back go through to their "im thinking of leaving" and when they ask why tell them you have a cheaper quote and see if they will match it or bring it down some so your not having to change insurer? Worth a phone call ;) report back n let us know how ya get on!

I shall - I'm going to push and push as hard as I can. Even if I can just get it down to £100 a month, I'd stay just to save the hassle of moving.

jules888, this seems cheap to me! I had a Mini Cooper when I was 20, Monthly insurance: £218!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The fact I've driven for so long, have never had a claim or accident and never had any problems, apparently means nothing as I am 22, and apparently a 'yob' who will drive like a racing driver

Have you tried a broker? They often can get better deals...I can personally recommend Brentacre :)

I'm going to go for them all at the end of the month when I have enough cash to put the deposit forward. I'm going to try the credit check first option with Insure, so I will know if I can go with them or not, if not than I'll try some brokers :)

I think its ridiculous though how the DRO actually makes you not want to better your situation in some ways. I know if I tried REALLY hard, i could probably get a job that pays 5k more a year. But whats the point? The amount of damage the fees/debts have caused me make it practially not worth bothering for!
