Bedroom furniture at decent prices?

So - Im moving into a new home soon - and need some bedroom furniture for the 2 kid rooms. I need draws and hang space - but Im looking at modular wardrobes that include the draws (better use of space v a chest).
I also need to be Bed side tables, a desk/chair for one room and beds. Budget isnt big - its around £2k all in.
Now, beds are £500 of that, and teh desk should be around £100. That leaves around £700 for each room. Width needs to be no more than 160cm (to fit in recesses) - unless I can get a corner unit. I need at least 150cm of hangrain space in each though this can be achieved with a high and low rail in a 75cm unit for instance) and 4 small, or 3 wider draws.
I have looked at the usual susspects - Ikea, B&Q, Homebase (their own modular range), Dreams (looks too expensive actually). They all seem much of a muchness on quality (at my oprice range) with Ikea offereing a little more versatility.
so - anyone any experience with any of those? quality? fitting prices (if I dont do it myself)? - are there any other places I should look?
If it helps Im moving to Nottingham and am not ruling out local places (rather than big chain stores) but as Im in Belfast at rpesent - its not easy finding suitable local stores - and I certainly cant see the goods first

I think you have got them in order and include Argos in the Homebase pot, one in the same.
IME IKEA tends to be good quality/value stuff, for what it is.
Depends if you can find something that you like that works in your space.
We have some of the tall wardrobes in a light oak and with some full mirrored doors, chest of draws and bedside units in DD room.
Just helped a friend move house and their IKEA wardrobes dismantled and reassembled very well too.
Have used some Argos stuff when the kids were younger, did its job, but wasn't the same quality or perhaps we were tight or chose the wrong things:(
Have you considered, "fitted" wardrobes or at least DIY sliding door units if they would fit?"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

I thought fitted wardrobes would be far too pricey for us - certainly more than stand alones, though that is assumption.0

Not if you do them yourself.
Sliding, mirrored, solid mounted on tracks hide a multitude of things. Ends can be infilled with MDF/Contiboard cut to fit. Not much worse than some of the larger flatpack stuff.
Can even use off the shelf free standing units inside for shelving and draws depending on sizes.
Mirrors add "space" to smaller rooms too."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
