passport question

hi guys, just a quickie

I think I know the answer but just wanted to check just in case.

I am currently in the process of booking my 2013 {my first in 6 years), now I am married but still have about 5 years left on my passport, which wasn't a problem as I just booked our holidays before in my maiden name.
The thing is now that I have to get a passport for my son 6yrs now I have heard people saying that I will have to renew mine at the same time as I will not be able to get him a passport with a different surname, it's this true?
I'm just thinking of the £140 price tag

No you don't have to change your passport unless you want to, as long as you remember to book your holiday in your maiden name.

When filling out the form - put a note at section 8 that your passport is still in your maiden name and sign section 9 in your married name. It won't do any harm to include your marriage certificate as well as your son's full birth certificate just to match up all the names.

The price for ypur son's passport is £49 and yours would be £77.50
