HELP! - I am panicking as usual!!!

I opened the email, but got suspicious because it said to click a link to see photos, so I deleted it.
Then I got an email actually from my friend saying his email address has been hacked and not to open any previous emails that said they were from him because they weren't.
These kind of things really stress me out:eek:
Will it be OK because I didn't click the link, or am I in trouble because I opened the email?
Please advise.
Thanks

OMG YOUR COMPUTERS SCREWED AAAAAAH
no if you got antivirus you should be ok do one thing though make a contact in your email call it A then as the email address call it A@A.com then if someone tries hack your email and send spammy emails they wont get very far cause the email client will stop after it cant send an email to A@A.com because it dont existReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0 -
Considering you haven't actually opened anything (linkwise), I'd pretty much say you're absolutely fine.- David0

What made it so much worse is that I checked my email on my work computer, not my own:eek::eek:
When I saw it was in the spam, I should have just bl@@dy deleted it, but my friends name was there loud and clear. In future I won't open ANYTHING that goes to spam.
Now I am at home on my own computer, but too scared to check my email!Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
If you didn't click on any links in the email, then you're probably fine.
One thing to be aware of though, is that genuine emails can sometimes go into the spam folder. It's the first place to check if someone swears they sent you an email and you swear you didn't get it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. There's a difference between opening an email and actually clicking any links in it. You said you didn't click the link to see "photos", so don't panic. Even if you did click into anything untoward, I'd like to think that your workplace has some sort of anti-virus system in place anyway, which could have intercepted anything untoward.
If you have a friendly IT person in the company, you could always ask him/her if there's anything that should be checked.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Read somewhere about disabling html in email account and just having plain text - but I don't really understand:
a) what this means
b) how to do it
Is it really safer?Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

Unless it was something deeply sinister like child !!!!!!, the chances of losing your job are remote - corporate IT depts are paid to handle this sort of thing, and if they were worried about it, they wouldn't allow you access to your email in the first place.
It is a small firm - certainly not corporate with an IT Dept.
I am fretting because I read on Google that even opening an email can trigger sinister happenings, without even clicking on any links.
Apologies that I am so neurotic (already have enough worries that are nearly sending me over the edge anyway, without this one)Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
No, please calm down, nothing to worry about,
It wasn't wrong to open an email from your friend, even though it was in the Spam box,
that sometimes happens to legitimate mail.
what you got was a piece of every day spam,
the links inside may or may not have been harmful,
but you didn't click on them anyway, so nothing to worry about,
But congratulate yourself for doing the right thing,
which is, of course: be suspicious of links in emails..
