I have had this problem for the last couple of days and I'm not sure why it's happened.
When I try to type the at sign I get '
When I try to get the question mark sign I get /
Any ideas, it's driving me mad.
I have checked the keyboard language and that is set to english uk and I have run out of things to try.
Many thanks.

Sticky keys? (not literally, figuratively in the windows sense!)
Try hitting shift key 5 times or more and a diaglog should pop up asking if you want to disable sticky keys. Select yes. Then perm disable them0 -
Ah ok
hold down both left and right shift key at the same time (did this for several seconds), it somehow solved the problem. Hopefully that fixed the issue. Also, go to control panel, click on accessibility options..in the keyboard tab, click on the settings buttons for sticky keys, filter keys and toggle keys and deselect the option to use shortcut
this worked for some ppl with this prob0 -
Have you tried pressing shift + 2 (@ on us keyboard layout)? Your keyboard layout might have changed for no apparent reason.- David0

Sounds like you have the wrong regional settings, and have it set to English (US) rather than English (UK).
Assuming you use Windows 7:-
Start menu > Control Panel > under the section Clock, Lanugage, and Region click on Change keyboards or other input methods > click on the Change keyboards button > I'm guess you will two languages there, English (UK) and English (US) > Remove English (US) leaving only UK left and press Apply.
Hopefully you now have a UK keyboard again!
Something else to try:
Start menu > Control Panel > under the section Clock, Lanugage, and Region click on Change keyboards or other input methods > click on the Location tab at the top > change Current location to United Kingdom.0
