Having said that, a quick look at your posting history would not persuade me to entrust holiday planning to your goodself if you are unable to fathom out your own personal arrangements without help.0 -
Baracuda, here's your plan.
identify your closest airport.
go into the airport website and find out where they fly to (direct) and what companies.
Once you know what aiports they fly to direct, find out what destinations are within an hour transfer.
Research those detinations, when you find a destination you like the look off, go onto webisites like onthe beach travelsupermarket etc, and compare prices. Also look at separate flights and accommodation but if you do this make sure you are insured, covered for cancellations etc.0 -
If you haven't booked a holiday before you might be better off going to a travel agent. I've been on lots of holidays with my family that we booked beforehand, because now so much stuff is online.
- Look at the flights first, find out how much it will cost in total (including all the extra fees, like paying to check in baggage, etc, if you're flying with a budget airline).
- Then look for accommodation. Just search for "cheap accommodation [name of city]" or something like that. I'd recommend sites like Venere, Lastminute, TripAdvisor, that sort of thing. Hotels are good, but you can sometimes find nice rental apartment or b&bs for not too expensive. Think about how far you want to be from the centre of town/beach, and your budget, and with a little bit of time you should find something. Check that it's available for the dates you want. (So many times I've spent ages looking at a hotel and then realised I can't stay there anyway!)
- Once you've found a place to stay, book the flights first, then book the hotel.
- You also need to think about travel insurance and exchanging money (you can get these things online, leave time in advance).
- Make sure you do some research about transport and things before you arrive. Do you need airport parking? How will you get from the airport to the hotel? From the hotel to tourist attractions/the beach/town?
- Make sure your passport is valid!
- Don't forget to book trains/buses for coming back home again from the airport.
You can research practically everything in advance online and although it might seem a bit daunting it can be done. I went for 3 weeks travelling around America, staying in a different place every other night and it was all booked online. Just exercise the normal sort of caution you would use with making online purchases and you should be fine.
Happy holidays0
