Aren't we all running off with no facts and manufacturing a mountain? She hasn't even been told she will be disciplined, never mind sacked, so what a tribunal will or won't accept as evidence is a bit premature. She's been asked to go and have a chat with her boss, and if it's just a chat (or even an investigation) then no she doesn't have the right to take someone with her. For all we know she's going to get nothing more than a stern talking to about what is the right and wrong way to raise concerns or talk about your employer to others. I do think her best course is to say that her comments were in the context of being disappointed for the school that the event didn't turn out as well as they had hoped and no criticism of the school was made or intended.0

Your neighbour needs to get in there and find out how serious the problem is. If its a 'friendly talk to prevent this from happening again' then talk and apologise. If it goes in a direction he is not comfortable with, ask for representation.0

Thanks for all the replies everyone, can't comment any further until I see said neighbour tonight but the conversation was with one person who complained to her friend on the PTA who in turn complained to the head.Mountains and molehills come to mindBe Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

I agree with the above - but it is tricky ......
Your friend needs to attend the meeting and just listen. Then, when they are about to speak - stop and listen again.
They need to determine whether they think that this will go to a disciplinary - if they are in any doubt, then just say nothing.
At most, if asked directly what was said they must not "incriminate" themselves at this stage - at most say "it was a while ago and a very busy day and I do not recall the conversation".
This is just another example of people being petty tittle tattle - unbelievable really, but if it all goes wrong could have a massive effecct on your friend.0
