tonypandy? rhondda cynon taff?
buying a house would be very cheap, getting work ect will be difficult, a lot of the main town of tonypandy has closed down now, think theres a co-op,iceland and asdas a bit further up from the main town.
a few charity shops and stuff, but not much really im afraid.
a lot of the surrounding areas are kind of similar, theres pontypridd, which is 20 min bus ride (depending what bus you get) but a lot of that has closed down too.
no b & b's or hotels in pandy, as far as im aware.
where are you from now hun?
all i can suggest is dont go moving just because its a cheap area, when you have trouble getting work and have trouble selling your house (many people there dont have the money to buy) then it might be difficult to make choices further down the line
good luck hun
xx
p.s - can i also say theres nothing "touristy" to do in tonypandy. there is the herritage park (old mine) that you can go to in porth (they also have a hotel there) , other than that id suggest you would have to go to the city (cardiff) and have a look around, lots of stuff there.
p.p.s - cardiff by train is 40ish mins from tonypandytrains every half hour lol

Hiya and thanks for reply
We are in Fife just now, other half has retired, I am still working full time.
Other half has been thinking of moving due to hs retirement somewhere quiet and peaceful,
But as i still need to work its not as easy to just get up and move.
And regardless of where we might go i have suggested a few holidays, to search different areas, look at transport issues and for me obviously work.
Thanks for letting me know about the area0 -
There are a couple of B & B's in the Tonypandy area.
Ty Lily Mae - http://www.rhonddaguesthouse.co.uk/
http://www.bnbselect.com/bnb/33974 - Treorchy
Housing is cheap in the Tonypandy area, Treorchy has a more vibrant shopping centre but to commute to Cardiff on the train would take over a hour each way. Trains do run every half hour.
Porth would be more central if you are thinking of moving to the Valleys0 -
Thank you for the nformation on the b and bs
will have a look at them tonigt0 -
Try the Bertie in Treharford, The Rhondda Heritage Park in Porth/Trehaford which is a little pricey or there is a Premier Inn in Llantrisant/Talbot Green if you have a car which is about 10 mins drive0
