    EBay - loads for sale.

As there is little to go wrong with storage heaters, second hand should not be a problem.

People don't normally put storage heaters in bedrooms - bedrooms get heated at night when it's cheap rate anyway, so a panel heater will do, and be more controllable.

Very old (pre 1980s) storage heaters may contain asbestos.

    .

The cheap rate for E7 is for a 7 hour period with the earliest starting time being 11pm. - mine for example is 00:30hrs to 07:30 hours in winter and 01:30 hours to 08:30 hours in BST.

So any heating required would be before those times for most people - and hence on daytime rates.

Background heat in my bedroom is achieved by use of a 800W oil filled radiator left on all night on low (It actually uses on average 400W per hour due to cycling on and off). If I didn't use the oil filled radiator the room gets very cold despite being under a blanket. It's reasonably warm only about 12-16 degrees depending on outdoor temperature in the morning and a timer switches it off at 7:30am. The room then cools down during the day. I then use a convector heater at about 10pm for about half an hour to boost the heat from cold to reasonably warm (16) then turn it off and go to sleep. The usage during peak rates is minimal and much less than a storage heater emitting heat all day unnecessarily.
