Ahhh, shrank my expensive new work clothes

I decided to "invest" in six shirts for work, paid £140 for them which is lot for me for work stuff, on the premise that I would look after them, they are classically cut and I would have a work capsual wardrobe!

I wore four of them and took them to a laundry service (Johnsons) paid £8 to get the washed and ironed put one on today and it is now too small, pulling across my boobs, and tight on my back etc!

I bought one size up, just noticed the label said wash at 30 and not tumble dry, I only wore this one on Thursday so there is no way I have grown and it was a size bigger so it was lose!

They are 100% cotton, so I now have four shirts that I cannot afford to replace and are pretty uncomfortable to wear and I hate that gapping thing on your boobs!

Any thoughts on reversing the shrinkage!

Grrrrrrrr!!!!!!!

  • i would measure the 'shrunk' shirts against the ones you havent worn, then take them back to the cleaners and explain what has happened. I would expect the cleaner to at least read the label before cleaning the shirt, and they should be insured for this type of eventuality!

I dont think there is anything you can do to reverse the shirts having been shrunk.

I would check with Johnsons and ask if they followed the washing instructions carefully. If they can write a letter confirming they did, then take this with the shrunk shirts back to where you bought them from. If they were washed in accordance to instructions then they shouldn't shrink. I think you should be offered a refund or exchange.
