OK first of all, never tell them your max budget (one of the downsides of using their inhouse mortgage brokers)...don't tell em you can afford £90k! Naturally they will squeeze you for it...

It's hard to tell what's going on...but I suspect at least some of the rival offers are genuine. If they had no other interest they'd be much more pro-active with you!

It's normally very easy to make offers in this country (too easy?) so they're probably being demanding just because you're a foreign buyer. Sorry about that!

I guess you just have to play ball with them if you really want it, leave it a couple of days and then chase the outcome of your offer.

But in future never tell them the most you can afford! keep that to yourself

    thanks london dog.
I am not a foreign buyer. I am a british citizen living here for the last ten years. I even telling them my max offer but they are not interested.
When I put down 75k offer they didnt ask for deposit proof but when I wanted to increase my offer to 80k they are insisting they want to see the money. They are not forwarding my offer to vendor.

Also with this particular agency I had a similar problem last year, and I have spoken to other estate agencies round the area and I have ben told that everyone is complaining for this estate agency. I really dont have a clue what they are playing at.

I am now tracking down the real owner and I will put my offer directly to them. Do you think it is acceptable or I shouldnt be doing it?

You can put your offer directly to the vendor if you wish, but the vendor will still have to pay the fee to the estate agent because it was them who introduced the buyer (you).

It's a normal practice for the agent to do an offer check, especially if someone if offering ABOVE the original asking price. You won't believe how far the sale can go before the buyer suddently pulls out so they need to be sure.
