I find Belarc Advisor does virtually the same, but has the advantage of showing much much more about the computer and will also tell you about missing Windows updates etc.

Sadly About.com makes no comment that, for some manufacturers, the Windows Product Key which is given by all these programs is the generic key which the manufacturers use to install thousands of copies of Windows, not the REAL Product Key which is on the holographic sticker on the case of a PC or (sometimes) in the battery compartment of a laptop. This is no surprise since software programs cannot read labels!
  • Remember nebby neighbour came round with one of these and said it could do all and thunder.

    Windows 7, failed
    Office 2010, failed
    Adobe products, various, failed.

Does not do what it says on the bin

Looks nice, for windows related, keys are available from other sources in internet. May be keyfinders for third party tools be useful. Many cases now the tools check the product keys just like the common IDM which checks and tells that the key used is duplicate/flase/... one.
