is Card Repayment Protection actually PPI??

Options
I'm currently paying debts off through a debt management company and I requested a balance enquiry on every account I am paying off and I noticed on the letter I received from HSBC that it states I have "Card Repayment Protection" on the account which I've never even heard of so I was wondering if anyone else has come across this kind of protection and if it is just another term for PPI?

I'm getting confused with this to from HSBC. I put in a claim for what I thought was PPI but it is Card Protection. I had a redress of HSBC for it in the end as I had paying nearly £20 a month since 2008. With 8% interest I received £1,164 back. But this is where it gets confusing. I kind of get the impression that this a form of PPI that I apparently agreed to when they consolidated my loan the last time. Apparently I do not PPI on this loan, however according to my bank statements I had paid loan protection in previous loans which I have consolidated. When I went to my local branch they printed off all my statements as far back as July 2007. They also gave me all the account numbers for them and confirmed that I had consolidated my loan 7 times when I can only remember 4 times. I thought I'd write to them for a data request so I could have copies of my terms and conditions for all 7 loans as I only have the most recent one. I have heard nothing even though a couple of weeks ago when I popped in locally, they said that I had received the letter and it was ongoing. Today I popped in again as it's been over 6 weeks and I was told that they had received nothing other than my confirmation of my redress for the card protection. I don't know what to do now. My understanding was the my card protection payout was different and so that is why I then started looking at my loans. SO I am just as confused as you are at this present time. So if anyone can point me in the right direction to, it would also be appreciated.

It could be Credit Card Protection which is not payment protection as such but was equally mis-sold http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-11747016
