Hi all
To get to the point, we are leaving our current property on the 30th June and the new tenants are moving in the following weekend. As our tenancy agreement was due to end on the 29th July and were are leaving early the landlord is requesting we pay right up until the day the new tenants move in.
Are they allowed to do this?

Thanks for reply, we are aware of that.
However last time we moved early and new tenants were found the landlord only charged until the day we vacated the property.
With this property we gave advanced notice and even did the viewing for the agent, the tenants are happy to move in as soon as we leave, however the landlord wants the week to do the inventory etc0 -
This post will tell you all about ending an AST.
The only additional fact is that a LL cannot take rent from two tenants at the same time so as go cat says, you are lucky new tenants are moving in.
The LL could also of course, charge you for his marketing costs to find those new tenants who he would not need to find if you were not breaking your contract.0 -
Ok thanks for reply, you have been really helpful we will just pay up and count our blessings.0
