I received this message the other day:
Badgers are beautiful creatures, all happy and playful.
Post this message on a MSE forum of your choice within the next 7 days or a badger may sneak into your house whilst you are asleep and eat all of your tea bags. John Smith ignored this message and one morning had to go and buy some more tea:eek:
I'm not sure if its a hoax or not but I know badgers exist so I didn't want to take the risk (I've bought extra tea bags and hidden them away as well);)You can't go wrong with carpet bombing...0 -

What a crock of sh**.
I work for a mobile phone recycling company and i've never come across a phone with a "virus" sent from a text message or phone call.Last bet : 26th Oct 2006:j Debt free 25th Feb 2008:j Living "my" dream:T0 -
I'd question my taste in friends if they sent naff things like that. On the rare ocassions that I get stuff like that by email, I go back to the sender and tell them I'm not interested in receiving stuff like that so please take me off the distribution list.
Errr.... if it is a spam email, then they now know your email address truly exists. :rolleyes2ac's lovechild0 -

Oh how I wish I had not ignored this message when I got it a couple of days ago !!!!
This morning I had no tea bags and had to go to the supermarket and buy more. I never linked it with the badgers before (I just thought I had used the last one last night) but I now realise a badger must have eaten them all while I was asleep
BTW I heard that the word 'gullible' has been removed from the english language
Your really can not beat a good bargain !!!0 -

Symantec security is pretty well known so I don't think they would print this if it wasn't true. If you missed it.

As I said this one was obviously a HOAX chain message.0 -
I only posted this as I did not want people to get their phones messed up & have to but new ones.
I hope I have saved some people some money in the long run that may fall for these textes wasting phone credit. Also not to answer the phone under the guidelines shown in Symatec.

...Weather the virus on phones is still about I don't know which wipes the sim e.t.c, but it's an actual phone call that sends it not text. As I read here.

.
No you didn't read it, you read the text of 2 versions of a HOAX. There isn't a mobile phone virus, sent by text or via a call or delivered by the Easter Bunny.
I was going to cut and paste the dictionary definition of Hoax in to my reply, but it's not in the dictionary, probably slang!!!!All the World is a Stage; and I'm going through a difficult one at the moment!0 -

Regarding mobile rip offs , my friend received a call from a witheld number on saturday , they knew his name , and said "We are ringing about your Volkswagen Golf" , my friend drives a Vauxhall Astra , so told the man that he didnt have one. The man insisted he needed to ask him a few questions anyway.
My friend hung up , only to find that his phone immediatly started to ring OUT so a number.
He hung up , and then received a phone call back from the same man. My friend hung up , and immediatley rang customer services as he was getting concerned. The cust serv advisor told my friend that the call had been charged to his account at a cost of 9.76 (nine pounds seventy six!!!!!!)
So be warned!James thinks worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you anywhere
If i help you...Please thank me! :beer:0 -
